STEERING CENTRE PIN MACHINING HELP

Postby funkyfreakapotomus » Fri Sep 13, 2013 11:10 pm

Need a new centre pin machining for a splittie!!!

Where is the best place locally (North Devon)???

Anyone had this done before??

Was an advisory on my MOT last year, bought the pin etc the week after but never got around to doing it!!

Thanks in advance!!

I'd try one of the local engineering firms, Whitelands up East the Water. They've done work for me before, skimming drums etc.

Hi there,

John at Eagle engineering, Gas Lane, Torrington is the best 'one-off' engineer I know of and have used him for 13 years now. He used to be a toolmaker for Clarkes shoes so he knows his widgets from his doofers and is cheap too.

Cheers, Carl.

PS. I have piloted adjustable reamers if you need to do the bushings.
Have nothing on your VW that you do not know will make it go faster, or believe to be beautiful.

Thanks Carl, I may give him a check out too!!

Coming up to MOT time again but probably haven't done 500 miles since its last one and I did wonder if I would get away with it again!!
