Hadn't looked at this thread until today - as soon as I saw the first pic I thought 'Riphay' :D

Been meaning to go for four years but it clashes with Retro Rides and Berrynarbour Classic.

I was all set this year, then somehow I did something wrong like walking sarcastically or breathing in a patronising fashion and my day pass was revoked and it was back to the dog house.

Next year....

Had a check of the Scuffler today.......
One disadvantage of no windscreen is.....water ingress.

Rear footwell....'well' being apt

Front.....

Image

Drilled some drainage holes.........

Image

Looking at the bubbles....I think it may have been beer that drained out......
If you were there you'd understand....

Then decided to check the fan, as she was overheating badly.......
Turns out its a viscous fan, and it weren't 'viscousing'............
ie... hardly working, so not suprising it got a tad warm.....bending the gauge needle at 125 degrees C.

Image

2 Bolts later, and it doesnt need to 'viscous' anymore....
ie permantley on.......

Cant wait till August!!!!......

Hi GBH,

There might be a problem with making your viscous coupling solid; At higher revs the fan blades can tend to bend forwards towards the rad core and chew a large (fan sized) hole in it! I've seen Jags and Range Rovers do it when the coupling siezes up. Oh,...it makes the fan bloody noisy as well!

i remember years ago while working on a rover sd1, the fan seized up and then proceded to explode into tiny pieces...yes i did poop myself

it my be wise to change the fan because i dont think they are designed to work under strain :?:
