welding

Postby Ian » Mon Jul 17, 2006 9:34 pm

Sounds like a man who wants to get his arms burnt.

Wear welding gloves! save a lot of pain,oh and a hat and goggles and fire retardent clothing.

Remember: he who welds without mask is usually very red and has ARC EYE and does'nt get any sleep

Just fired the van up for the first time in 12 months.... turns over, no start.
Nip round the back, petrol city, split fuel line!!!! Bearing in mind it had new lines alround just before it was laid up, I was suprised......replace the line.... bingo!!
Man,I forgot how sweetly it ran on the new Mexican motor, mind you I am comparing it to my Buggy!!!
Guess the lines had dried out and perished
Anyway just a timely reminder for everyone......CHECK YOUR FUEL LINES, you know it makes sense!!!!

Few more photos......now I've found the cameras memory card[inside the printer....dont ask!!!]
Image
Outer and inner sill gone+ most of the middle sill, once I sort out a middle repair panel I'll know how much more to remove!!!

Image
Not much left of the front of the top hat!!!!

Image
Aint too bad at the back... just a small repair to the end of the top hat.

Image
Didnt realise how many spot welds there are in the front arch!!!!
Quick?? Do they go right up to the bulk head behind the seat belt mount??? Cos I cant see any from about 6 inches from it..

spot welds

Postby Ian » Tue Oct 17, 2006 8:12 am

Yes mate spot welds should go all the way back. level with the door pillar but the chances are that someone's welded a patch for MOT repairs sraight to the arch. time to get out the big hammer and chisel.
